Local SEO: Local Search Optimization

What Is Local SEO?

local SEO searchLocal Search Engine Optimization not only utilizes the normal SEO factors (mentioned here) but adds an additional layer of complexity to the equation by taking in to account your business’s geographical location and the location of the customer/searcher.  Local SEO places your business in front of your local customers, no matter where or how they are searching.

Local customers search Google, Google Maps, review sites, local apps on their smart phone, on their social media profiles…etc, the options are almost endless.  Our goal is to make sure that your business can be found no matter where or how that customer is searching.  Remember, that if they don’t find you, they will find your competition.

What Is Involved?

Local Search Ecosystem

While the basics of local SEO can seem simple, or somewhat straight forward, depending on who you ask or how it is presented, the reality of the matter is, it is a very sensitive and somewhat complex process.  The attention to details and overlapping consistency and accuracy is absolutely mandatory for optimal results.

The image to the right (courtesy of Moz Local) shows the intricate pieces of the local search ecosystem, including local data aggregators, primary and secondary directories and top review sites.  All of these pieces in the diagram need to work together in harmony for best results, and if any of the pieces are out of alignment, well then, things can get ugly.  That is why it is essential to work with a company like Say So Marketing, that is highly trained in local search optimization.

Does My Business Need Local SEO?

Location is KeyIf you are a business that serves customers that are within your local geographical location (EX: plumbers, attorneys, auto repair shops, HVAC companies, smartphone repair, contractors, accountants…etc), and you want more customers to find you online, and buy from you, then yes, you do need local SEO.

The ideal candidate is a business with a local storefront (brick and mortar) location, but we can also help what we call Service Area Businesses (SABs) that serve their clients at the customer’s location (like a plumber, contractor, pest control company…etc).

If you are selling T-shirts or candles or other products online and shipping them everywhere across the country, then Local SEO is probably not for you.  (You can look into our normal SEO and web design services, but Local SEO most likely won’t be of much benefit to you, though there are some rare exceptions though).
